Lots of people have been asking if we are operating during the Coronavirus Pandemic. The answer is we are open! We are doing our best to keep our shelves stocked with fun and exciting resources for your children during this time.
At this point in time we are doing Post Office runs everyday so you can be assured that your delivery will be dispatched usually between 1-2 business days. Australia Post is experiencing some delays due to the sheer increase in the number of parcels that are being sent during this time. People have been advised to stay at home so they are doing most of their shopping online.

COVID-19 SARS-CoV-2, обнаруженный в Ухани и вызвавший пандемию COVID-19 – продукт естественной эволюции, а не созданный в лаборатории патоген. Об этом сообщает в издательстве Nature международная группа ученых во главе с иммунологом в Scripps Research Кристианом Андерсеном.
Ученые отсканировали нуклеотиды, шифрующие белковые шипы на оболочке коронавируса, которые используются им для захвата и проникновения в клетки людей и животных. Исследовались рецептор-связывающий домен (RBD) – “захватный крючок”, и “молекулярный нож”, который позволяет вирусу взламывать стенку клетки и внедряться в нее.
Обнаружено, что RBD-часть SARS-CoV-2 мутировала, чтобы иметь эффективную связь с рецептором ACE2 на клетках организма (он принимает участие в регуляции давления крови). Шип коронавируса является настолько эффективным для захвата клеток, что исследователи пришли к выводу: это точно результат естественного отбора, а не искусственно созданный вирус.
Факт мутации подтвердили и данными об общей молекулярной структуре SARS-CoV-2.
Исследователи вещают: если бы кто-то пытался создать новый патоген, он создавал бы его на основе вируса, который абсолютно точно вызывает недуг. Но выявлено, что каркас SARS-CoV-2 сильно рознится от него у уже известных коронавирусов и в общем напоминает родственные вирусы у летучих мышей.
“Эти два свойства – эволюции в RBD-части шипа и структура его остова – делают невозможными лабораторные манипуляции как возможное происхождение SARS-CoV-2. Мы можем точно определить, что SARS-CoV-2 возник из-за естественных процессов”, – сказал Андерсен.
Именно так появились прошлые вспышки коронавирусов, когда люди заражались от цивет (SARS) и верблюдов (MERS). В ситуации с SARS-CoV-2 “виновны” летучие мыши – наиболее вероятный резервуар для нынешнего коронавируса, поскольку он сильно походит на коронавирус летучих мышей.
