Mental Maths activities
Use this activity as some end of term fun or pop it in your fast finisher’s basket.
Students solve the maths problems to match each letter to a number. Students then crack the code with the letter/number combination.
Dots and Boxes Game
A fun partner game to get students thinking strategically.
The game requires two players who take turns adding a single horizontal or vertical line between two unjoined adjacent dots. A player who completes the fourth side of a 1×1 box wins that box and puts their initial inside before taking another turn. The game ends when no more lines can be drawn. The winner is the player with the most boxes.
A great end of semester or fast finishers activity.
Make 4 Game
It’s game time, so switch on your master minds and think strategically.
Use as an end of term activity, for quiet time or as a social group exercise.
This is a two player game. Students choose a colour and try to build a row of four checkers (coloured dots) while keeping your opponent from doing the same.
Rows of four can be created vertical, horizontal or diagonal. The first player to connect four of their same colour, wins!
Comic Strip Panels
Use this resource as a creative writing tool for students to create their own comic stories with illustrations. Use in creative writing, literacy rotations or as an end of term activity.
I Spy Game
A fun I Spy worksheet to use at the end of term or for fast finishers.
Students find and colour the number of objects in the table.
Mystery Pixel Pictures
A fun pixel art activity that is great for number and colour recognition as well as a simple end of term activity in the early years.
Students colour by number to reveal the mystery picture.
Jumble Words, a word building activity
Using the letters provided students build words and list them in the tables. The aim is to make as many words as possible using only the letters provide.
Teachers could also set time-based challenges or points based challenges where points are given for word length.
Eg. 4 letter word = 2 point
5 letter word = 3 points
